UPDATE: December 3, 2012
For those of you who have asked about my cousin donating her kidney; that all fell through. When they mixed her blood with mine in a dish, her antibodies and antigens killed mine. She was ruled out for me, but maybe someone else. She may be able to get on the Swap List next year

UPDATE: December 17, 2012

Just a quick update, Devon’s surgery went well on Friday. The doctor was happy with how well she handled the actual surgery. They handled the couple problem toes but didn’t have to cut into her lower foot section at all. She came out of recovery very late on Friday night and has been very groggy for the last couple days. She appreciates all the thoughts and well wishes, I know this is going to be a tough thing for her to get through, but know that I am here to help her through her journey as I always am. She is surely the strongest person I have ever met. -Brandon

After that hospital stay and procedure, I had complained to my nurse that my port was painful and the very next day when I went back to her, I asked her to look at it again and there was a huge cyst that had grown over and under my port. Went to the hospital the next day and they took my port out and replaced it on the right side of my body...

Battle with Kidney Disease Spurs FishHawk Woman to Help Others

Article taken from bloomingdale.patch.com

Devon Carver has founded OperationKidney and hopes to help other people with renal failure.
By D’Ann White October 4, 2012
Devon Carver easily blends in with her fellow FishHawk Ranch mothers, rushing to pick up kids from school in between visiting the grocery store, cleaners and bank before heading home to cook dinner.

Few who don’t know her would ever guess her secret.

Carver is dying.

The 34-year-old mother is battling end-stage renal failure. She spends 12 hours a day on dialysis to simply sustain her traitorous kidneys that now refuse to do their job.
And, as she lies in bed, her companion an intrusive machine that removes waste and excess water from her blood, Carver prays for what seems impossible...
